For years, Mr. Tony cut many folks hair that grew up in the area. He operated the barber shop until 1970 when he then sold it to my Dad, Bobby Peoples. Mr. Tony had a big impact in the area and today we still cut some of his customer's hair along with their descendants.

In 1967, Daddy & E.V. Riddle opened a shop on Main Street in Gardendale. I swept floors & had a shine box. They rented a small building from Mrs. Worthington across from Files Tire.
In 1970, Daddy bought this 3-chair shop from Tony Cataldo (Mr. Tony). I was 7 yrs old and got my shine chair. I had hit the big times.
In 1980, He moved the shop to his home @ New Castle & Tarrant Rd where it was until Daddy's death in 2015.

By the time I was 12ish Daddy had me cutting his & a few of our relatives' hair. Standing on stacked Coca-Cola flats so I could reach their hair to cut it.

When I graduated high school, Daddy offered to pay for my barber college & upon graduating he would give me half ownership of the shop. I told him he had lost his mind, that I would never stand behind a barber chair for a living.
